OUR GOALS 

He Piko, He Taniwha Kaahui Ako comprises of the following Schools:

 

  1. Hamilton East Primary School,

  2. Hamilton Boys High School

  3. Hamilton Girls High School
     

1. AGREEMENT PURPOSE

The Boards of Trustees and Principals’ of the schools identified above undertake to work collaboratively as the He Piko, He Taniwha Community of Learning /  Kaahui Ako to raise student achievement, to maintain and enhance student wellbeing, engagement and teacher, leadership efficacy.

  • The purpose of collaboration is to collectively achieve better student outcomes and teacher practice for our learners than any one school could achieve by themselves.

  • Collectively, we can have a greater impact on raising student achievement across our community and give our students a seamless educational experience.

  • Through providing clear and consistent educational pathways within, across and beyond schools we can empower students to make more consistent progress through key transition points.

  • Collectively we can reshape the expectations of parents/family/whanau engagement to benefit and support each learner's achievement.

2. AGREEMENT TIMEFRAME

This Agreement is for a period of two years commencing from 6 March 2018.

 

3. AGREEMENT REVIEW

This Agreement will be reviewed at the Stewardship group meeting in November 2018.

 

4. HOW THE HE PIKO, HE TANIWHA COMMUNITY OF LEARNING / KAAHUI AKO WILL WORK TOGETHER

 

  • We have a professional and moral purpose to strengthen teacher efficacy through the He Piko, He Taniwha Community of Learning / Kaahui Ako and have identified shared achievement challenges that are relevant to the needs of the students within our schools.

  • Transparency, trust and honesty are a professional obligation.

  • The partnership should evolve from collaboration to co-responsibility to shared professional accountability for results.   

  • The above will be undertaken through an inquiry approach within and between schools, teachers and leaders with particular focus being given to student agency, teacher efficacy and whanau engagement.

  • Our collaboratively developed Achievement Challenges plan is outlined in the attached documentation.

  • We will utilise and manage the dedicated resources provided to best implement the plan.

  • We will involve parents, students, families and communities in implementing and strengthening the plan.

  • Individual Boards will reference the He Piko, He Taniwha Community /  Kāhui Ako of Learning plan within their own individual schools' Charters along with the goals/objectives related to the needs of their own students.

  • We will implement systems for monitoring, reviewing and adapting the plan as necessary.

  • We will establish and operate an operational structure to manage the processes to implement the plan.
